Me colgué de tu mirada

Post by tarzan » 05 May 2006 08:04

There's a verse in the lyrics of a song called "Angel" by the Mexican group Elefante, that goes, "Me colgué de tu mirada, me quedé con tu sonrisa..."

I'm not sure I understand the first part correctly: Literally it's "I hung myself of (from?) your look,..." Is that a correct translation? If so it doesn't seem to make sense in Ingles.

Indeed, even though that makes perfect sense in spanish (and even in french - Je me suis accroché/e à ton regard), the expression 'Me colgué de tu mirada' doesn't mean much in english. Literally, it does mean 'I hung myself of your look (or glance).'

The meaning of the expression is probably 'ever since I've seen your glance, I keep thinking about it,' but that's merely a guess.
