En Turquie on dit ELMA . Dans les villages on dit ALMA . Dans d'autres pays turcs on dit ALMA comme on dit en Hongrie.

In indonesian, pomme: apel. In chinese, pomme: ping2 guo3. :D

apple tree can't grow in tropical climate, "apel" probably derived from the dutch "appel" ?
As are often the name for fruit or vegetable of foreign origin.

Don't know also...because Indonesia was Dutch colony, maybe come from Dutch language...hmmm...i don't have any idea about this. :roll:

Yes... patmos was right. I forgot about the colonial past of Indoneria. Although it is obvious from the recuperation of Garuda Airlines from KLM...

Having studied the Polynesian cultures, when I think about Indonesia, it is the Indonesia of 3000 years ago or more... Maybe I should pay more attention to the latest news ...those dating from less than a thousand years.
