ой, ой, ой.... Сонька...
En ukrainien :

білий = blanc
сірий = gris
чорний = noir
червоний = rouge
жовтогарячий = orange
коричневий = brun
жовтий = jaune
зелений = vert
синій - bleu
фіолетовий = violet

голубой = рус. голубой
блакiтний (не влакитний) = рус. синий (заимствование из польского?)
похмурий = рус. пасмурный
брунатний = рус. коричневый (какой-то оттенок коричневого, тоже вероятно заимствование)
каштановий = рус. каштановый (цвета плодов каштана, оттенок коричневого)
сирий = рус. сырой
міцний = рус. сильный, мощный
сивий = рус. седой

Oh, thank you sv, this is another proof that I cannot trust at all my ukrainian handbook... As for влакитний, I made a mistake on the first letter, this was meant to be a "б", but my handbook really shows блакитний ! And if міцний means "сильный, мощный" why did it appear among translations of green ???

Then a few other questions if you can answer : are синій and блакiтний perfect synonyms ? Is троянда correct ? (or maybe it means rose - the flower ?)

Hi, Сонька.
I do not speak Ukrainian myself. But I asked one of my friends from Kiev. The result is:

міцний = крепкий, мощный, сильный

I really don't know why it was used to say green in your book. :roll:

троянда is a rose (a flower).

блакiтний and синій are the same but there are slight differences in tones.

you know Ukrainian flag some time ago was called жовто-блакiтний, and ukrainians were called жовто-блакитные in Russia too as a slang. but now Ukrainains say their flag is жовто-синій. So this tone of blue used in their flag is either блакiтний or синій. There is no difference for this tone how to call it. But while синій goes also darker in tone to dark blue and indigo, блакiтный is closer to sky-blue. you can't call dark blue блакiтный. it covers some tones of синій and голубой.

hope this helps.

Thanks sv !!! You know that I also know Ukrainians, but their Ukrainian is so poor that they may not help at all ! But I'll ask them too, if I don't forget...

:-o :-o :-o I would never have thought this could be called синій ! As for me, the Ukrainian flag is clearly голубой...

Probably the point is as you said last : maybe блакiтный is a generic term for all kind of blue (as we only have in French or English, for example)

i would call this color either темно-голубой or светло-синий.

i would say that English blue is from our синий trough -> светло-синий to -> голубой
but our синий is English light indigo to -> blue
and English indigo is our темно-синий

and surely all those темно-, светло- could be dropped.
I would also call Ukrainian flag more голубой, but if they want it to be синій, it's their problem... ;) :drink:

A bientôt! :jap:

Je ne dis pas cela à titre publicitaire :nono: mais je me tiens à votre disposition :sun: si vous avez besoin de traduction quelconque en turc (un simple mot que je vous traduirais avec plaisir et gratuitement ou bien un document facturé.)

Peace, love, speak & ENJOY! :punk: :drink:
