Another way of saying the sentences in english is

It’s necessary for your child to take additional lessons during the lunch break.

I sent you a letter expressing my concern but your child did not return it
(NOTE: although this is the literal meaning, i am not sure what the procedure is here. i think it means that the teacher sends a letter to the parents. then the parents have to sign it then give it to the child to give to the teacher)

After what I know from our French educational system, I would understand that this is when the teacher has some problemes with a pupil and thus sends a letter to the parents (not per post, but through the child), in order either just to inform them (and then they must return it signed) or to ask for an interview with them to discuss matters (which then requires an answer). If the teacher gets no answer, it is clear that the child hasn't given the letter to his parents.

As for 'tutorial', I think 'repetitorstvo' is OK, though I understand repetitorstvo more like something private that you do after school and tutorial more like something institutional organized by the school itself. Is it the case, Anthos ?

to me the nuance for tutorial is not private VS institutional. it means guided teaching rather than group teaching, ie in a tutorial the child receives closer, more individualised attention and there is more interaction.

Oh yeah, but I meant not the difference between tutorial and normal courses, but between tutorial and Russain "repetitorstvo". "repetitorstvo" is anyway also most of the time individual or in small groups.
