about"negative" this word

Post by try again »

dear all, im confused by another word today.
that is the word"negative"
it seems that it can be used as "no" ,that is to deny or disagree with others. i got it from the movies.
eg.
---do u wanna go there?
----negative. (no)

i thought it was a kool word to be.until i asked one of my canadian friend, she said that it can be used like this, and she thinks that it may mostly come from the science fiction movie... yet a bit weird to use this word. she also mention that the opposite to negative is affirmative, can be also used in the situation above.
well, have any of u guys heard of this? is this word "negative" really can be used this way?
try again~!~

Affirmative and negative are used in radio language as equivalent of yes and no. But I can't find out why they started using them, and not simply yes and no...

So, yes, affirmative and negative can be used in those ways. But to me they sound really army-like.
