learning conversational Russian: texts/software?

I've been searching books & software for Russian instruction, but the number of choices is confusing. Each one claims to be the best.
Please, suggest text/software suited to learning Russian as a 2nd language.
Best of all, of course, would be working w/ a tutor; Does anyone know how I might find one in Nashville Tennessee, USA?
