I am currently studying Conference Interpreting at York University and I need to prepare a paper on the French market. Would anybody working in France as interpreters like to share with me what kind of work they get and how the market has evolved? As well as an overview of the challenges the profession faces in France?
Or how the French market differs from other European markets? I would also have additional information concerning the private sector of the interpreting market in France. I want my paper to focus on the private market.

Pour te donner une idée générale, tu peux consulter l'ancien forum pour étudiants en interprétation, dans ma signature, on en a beaucoup parlé. Ca date un peu mais la situation n'a globalement pas changé : le marché privé est largement dominant, tout comme l'aller-retour anglais français, les autres langues sont minoritaires, il y a un gros marché ''gris'' très actif qui pratique des tarifs et accepte des conditions de travail très inférieurs aux niveaux défendus par l'AIIC, et de plus en plus d'agences de traduction jouent un rôle d'intermédiaires.
Le marché AIIC s'appuie principalement sur des secrétariats qui font le lien entre les demandes et l'offre des interprètes qui y sont inscrits, en envoyant aux clients des listes de disponibilité desdits interprètes parmi lesquels les clients peuvent faire leur choix.
