Should tv be educational?discuss

Post by lodylarose »

Today to have television at home is something normal. More and more persons occupy their spare time with watching TV. Beyond an entertainment, it becomes a means to enrich its own knowledge.

According to me the television does not have to serve only that in the entertainment, she also has to have an educational role to the young people as older. The television news are already a means to know what takes place all over the world. They allow to follow the current events and also can discuss at the school on news headlines such as: the institution of the constitution, the euthanasia... These television news are accessible to everybody whereas documentaries historic or other as for example on the remembrance of camps of Auschwitz recently are less accessible because they passed later on the television and less numerous. The educational mission of the television has to strengthen and extend a little more over big channels rather than limit itself in France 5. I think that it can be for the students a further information either a means to realize painful event. For example, the famous film " Nacht und Nebel " shows the inhumanity of German and suffering born by the transported convicts. The educational role of the television is a means to be made its own opinion and its own judgment on something but on the condition of listening to several versions, channels, medias differents. For example if it is about politics, it is necessary to listen to the various political parties to be able to adhere to a party.

On the other hand I think that the documentaries which are looked and appreciated by every public are those who are the least difficult to understand(include) and containing most possible image. It should not become boring to look at a documentary but on the contrary, it has to be alive and give envy(urge) to be looked.

Hi ladylarose

I corrected the most serious problems.

It's interesting reading. However I also thought that all channels had a duty to provide a certain amount of educational programmes. But then it depends how you define educational.

Today, having a television at home is the norm. More and more people spend their spare time watching TV. Beyond its entertainment value, it is also becoming a means for enriching one's knowledge.

In my opinion, television should not only be a form of entertainment; it should also have an educational role, for young and older people alike. News programmes are already a means to know what is happening all over the world. They allow people to follow current events and the news headlines provide topics for discussion at school such as the constitution, euthanasia... News programmes are accessible to everyone whereas historic or other documentaries, like for example the remembrance of Auschwitz camps recently, are less accessible because they are shown later and are less numerous. The educational role of television has to be strengthened and extended a little more to the mainstream channels rather than being limited to France 5. For students, I think it can provide further information or can help them to better comprehend disturbing events. For example, the famous film " Nacht und Nebel " shows the inhumanity of Germans and the suffering experienced by prisoners in concentration camps. The educational role of television provides a means of forming one's own opinion and judgment on issues, on the condition that one takes into account different versions, channels, media. For example, when politics are concerned, it is necessary to listen to the various political parties before subscribing to the politics of a given party.

On the other hand I think that documentaries which are watched and appreciated by everyone are those which are the least difficult to understand and containing as many scenes as possible. Watching a documentary should not become tiresome; rather, inversely, it should be lively and make people want to watch it.

' is also becoming'
I used continuous tense
I made these changes:
- prisoners in concentration camps.
- before subscribing to the politics of a given party (ie agreeing with the ideas).
- scenes
