Is this the correct spelling from English to Scottish Gaelic please.
I love you darling of my heart. Good night
Tha geol agum orsta garigh moi chri ika va
My father was from Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis and we used to say this to each other every night and now i would like to get it tattooed but i do not know the correct spelling of it. Can anyone please help me? Thanks

Re: English to Scottish Gaelic
I know it's been quite some time but I just saw this topic for the first time. The correct spelling is as follows:
Tha gaol agam ort, a charaid mo cridhe. Oidhche mhath.
I know it looks... interesting, but Scottish Gaelic has lots of letters that are either no longer pronounced but still written, or pronounced very differently than in English. so "charaid" is pronounced like "garrigh", "ort" is pronounced like "orst", "cridhe" is pronounced like "cri", and perhaps most interestingly, "oidhche mhath" (goodnight) is pronounced "ika va". Hope this is still of use to you.

Re: English to Scottish Gaelic
Should be :Tha gaol agam ort, a charaid mo cridhe. Oidhche mhath.
Tha gaol agam ort, a ghràidh mo chridhe. Oidhche mhath.
Caraid means "friend".
rather "kharetch" (kh is a throat ch as Spanish j)so "charaid" is pronounced like "garrigh",
it's chridhe, pronounced khthee-yeh."cridhe" is pronounced like "cri",
rather uy-hyeh vah.and perhaps most interestingly, "oidhche mhath" (goodnight) is pronounced "ika va".
