Hebrew Translation--Help please

Can someone translate B'nai Brith into English for me please? If I am not mistaken, B'nai means "children", but if this is the case, what is "Brith"? My friend is trying to get my to join the B'nai Brith Youth Organization, and I'm wondering what I'm getting into.

B'nai Brith is the oldest jewish worldwide organisation and is represented in th UNO, Unesco, the European Parlement...

The name B'nai Brith means "Sons of the Alliance".

Its objectives are to gather jewish people to reinforce the harmony between all the communities, fight against racial and religious intolerance, etc...
