M.Cler me laissait toujours des notes machine.

His departure was a veritable surprise. Thanking me and wishing me all sorts of nice things, he left me a note spelling out all the instructions, as well as a nice sum.
What instructions?
Well, to return this Saturday and, for a flat fee, thoroughly clean the manor, seeing that it was to be put up for sale. After that, I had to drop off the keys at the agency. I wasn’t there for even an hour.
Is the note hand-written?
That, no. Mr. Cler would always leave me official letters. A consequence of his job, I suppose.
Adam was about to hang up when the woman resumed.
It’s not as easy as you describe. I saw him just once, okay, and not for long. And this was four years ago.
Did you see him during the move?
Of course I did. But you still can’t work for strangers.
Ma’am, said Adam, voice speeding up, trying to be as precise as possible.
Might he have done something bad.
On the contrary.

(I wasn’t there for even an hour veut dire je n'y suis même pas restée une heure))

No. Mr. Cler would always leave me official letters. A consequence of his job, I suppose.

His departure was a real surprise. Thanking me and wishing me all sorts of nice things, he left me a note spelling out all the instructions, as well as a nice sum.( je suis pas tres sur: 'amount' me semble plus naturel pour de l'argent, mais le dico dit que 'sum' ca peut aller aussi...)
What instructions?

Of course I did. But(pourquoi but? les deux phrases ne sont pas en opposition, au contraire.>>supprimer 'but') you still can’t work for strangers.

On the contrary.
