how to say"break up"in various ways

Post by try again »

breaking up, this is so cruel, i'd say, however it is so real.
but if the pair is on the edge of their relationship, and they both wanna end this relationship, if they don't say it out, isn't it more crueler?

so here i'd like to ask you how you guys say break up in variaty of ways.

the following are my version, i guess some of them may not be quite right or idiomatic, coz im a chinese, not a native. so if u see the mistakes, just tell me straight, any of ur suggestions are very welcome!!!thx!

1.We'd better seperate./It is better for us to seperate.
2. I'm through with you.
3.It is over between us.
4.period!That's just what it is.
5.That's it.
6.im afraid you are not the one/type/my taste.
7.Deny!
8.our love has been a part of history/is gone/ends/has dead/has come to an end.
9. i wanna kiss you goodbye/say goodbye.
10.can i dump you?/im afraid you are dumped.
11.you are off!
12.we are finished!
13.it is the end of us!

note:i added the 12 and 13 issues today on Dec.6

That's a nice collection of phrases.

Some corrections
6.im afraid you're not the one/my type.
8.our love is history/is gone/has ended/has died/has come to an end.
9. i wanna kiss you goodbye/say goodbye.

I've never heard 7.
10 is completely cruel. Dump is a very colloquial and strong word.

Andreas

PS coz is very informal. It sounds strange when you say it.

'It's not you, it's me' is the cliche that's been turned into 'it's not me, it's you'

I've never heard number 4, and I don't think number 11 is a very suitable way of ending a relationship :)

I agree about 11- I think that this was added after the original posting.

4 could feasibly be said (period being full stop). admittedly the expressions range from the diplomatic to the heartless, and most are classic/clichéd.
