Lanugage identification help--language from India?

Post by Kay Shelton »

Someone donated a palm-leaf manuscript to my library, but no one is able to read it to identify it. A couple of scholars looked at it and they believe it is in Oriya, but they are unable to read it, too. Is anyone able to read the sample leaves found here?

I am looking for someone who could transliterate a title so that this manuscript can be cataloged and made accessible on a world-wide database.

Thank you very much for your time,

I have perused the image of the palm-leaf manuscript you have provided a link for. I can make out elements of both Devanagari and Bengali. But then again it could be Assamese or some long-forgotten/disused script.

I doubt any of us know Oriya. In case you do not find a suitable answer to your question, you may try putting up your query with the translators' section of the same website (by going to the page www.freelang.net/translation/index.html).

All the same, good luck to you in your quest!
