hindi tattoo

Post by livetolove »

I want to get a tattoo of a phrase in hindi sanskrit. Would it be disrespectful to get this tattoo on the top of my foot? Of coarse I would mean absolutly no disrespect by doing this but I don't know how it would be viewed by the Indian culture. Thank you:)

It is generally considered disrespectful to keep anything on touch with feet.
The place I suggest is forearm or arm.

another question:)

Thank you for letting me know, I would hate to offend anyone. Is it disrespectful even if the tattoo isn't from the hindu religion. It would probably just be the word "sisters" in hindi sanskrit?

Here in Thailand feet are considered the least sacred part of the body, you can't point them at anything or anyone, if you sit on the floor you have to keep your legs behind you, etc. I don't know about India but I guess it's pretty much the same. So getting the least sacred part of your body tatooed, and attracting everybody's attention on it doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Many Thais are tatooed but I haven't seen any tatoo on a foot yet, I think it would look really wierd.
Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so.
