Norwegian phrase?

Post by Jeffrey.Spencer »

I'm hoping someone can help me translate a Norwegian phrase, probably slang.

When I was a young child, my great grandfather (a second generation Norwegian-American) always used to tickle my sister and I on our necks and say "ee-syser."

My grandmother (his daughter) says it meant "I love you," but I've never seen a translation with this sound. (She doesn't speak Norwegian and I think she is guessing!)

Tusen takke to anyone who can help!

hello,

could you try to explain how this little expression was pronounced?

ee-syser = /i:sy:ser/ or /i:sajser/ ??

I don't see anything sounding like that in norwegian....

More like the former than the latter -- three syllables: /i:sy:ser/
