Again and last proofreading asked ! Thanks

Post by marcel et son orchestre »

Hello again,

I made another cover letter for a job, I think that one is the last one as I need moreover 2 hours to write it ! (usual time to do it in French is just one hour and an half!)

This is kinda special because that's a spontaneous application. The thing is they used to post position and I'd really like to work there. So now I'm wondering how to do it, introduce an application like this.

Thanks to every help and advice, that's really much needed.

And also you might be surprised by the letter, but it's not really for a job, moreover an intership, so I basically describe my qualifications, not really my formation but more day-to-day skills.

I really thanks in advance everyone for the help provided.

The letter ;

I am hereby applying for potential opportunities.

There are currently no vacancies. But I am convinced I could make a valuable contribution to XXX (the company) in XXX (the job) positions. I’ve just finished my XXX (the study i did) and I am willing to work for an organisation like yours.

(I did a lot of thinking and finally wrote that, as i really dont know how to do this kind of application)

Having been member of a youth organization and supervisor, I’d enjoy working with students. These experience taught me how to manage groups, resolve conflicts and manage day-after-day life. With my education and these experience, I believe I’d be able to provide non-academic and academic supports for students.

Being fond of trekking, I’ve learnt outdoor skills in various situation, in XXX (countries) for a one-month trekking. This trek made me acquire various knowledge used in outdoor self-sufficiency life.

I had the opportunity to live in (XXX countries). Therefore I am now quite used to adapt myself to new country, cultures and languages. I particularly enjoy that.

I’d be pleased to support any course and start preparing it as soon as possible. I am also used to manual transmission and have MS Office skills. I would be really motivated to work in such a job, as I am also specially interested in environmental issues.

(they insist on particuliar skills, like operating a manual transmission, thats why I wrote that, that may sounds strange !)

I have enclosed a copy of my CV with additional information regarding my qualifications.

Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,[/b]

I've written these kinds of letters (never had any response, though), and I usually emphasized why I was particularly interested in the given organization, and something to the effect of "I am interested about the possibility of arranging an internship, in which I could share my skills in .... while gaining experience in the field." Maybe they don't have funds for another paid position, but you would still be willing to commit to volunteering for amount of time.

Stylistically, "applying for potential opportunities" doesn't work, because you apply for a position, not an opportunity.

I have enclosed a copy of my resume ** with additional information regarding my qualifications.

Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
** this is for an American organization, right? In the U.S., a resume is a summary of a your education and work experience, while a CV is a list of academic books and papers that a professor has written.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
