"Bumblebee queen" or "queen bumblebee" ?

Post by edenlys »

I was wondering... shall we say "bumblebee queen" or "queen bumblebee" ?
I searched on google and both gave results so.... what's the difference?

If you give the sentence, we'll be able to tell you how the two versions differ, if at all

In that case, I can't explain the difference - I think it's a matter of which 'feels' right

The bumblebee queen is actually a female that has made it through the winter, and usually start a quite small society in the soil.
So Mrs. Queen Bumblebee does not have quite the same status as the queen of the honeybee.
How many Queen bumlebees that survive the winter depends to a great extend on how cold the winter has been.
You can see that the expressions depends to a great extent on which connection they are expressed in.
By the way it is also called humblebee
