ICELANDIC : lyndis

Post by tug83 »

Hi everybody!

I am going to be father in 2 months and would like to call my daughter by Lyndis. I found this name in a Icelandic book that I bought when I visited Iceland last year. Do you know what this first name means and when it is celebtaed in Iceland?

Thanks a lot,

tug (Paris)

Lindisfarna is an Island west of Scotland, - it's called Holy Island in English, so my guess is that your name for your dauther would mean something like - the holy one - or - the lucky one - or - the one for whom everything goes smoothly.
Just a guess mind you - I am Danish

Congratulations!!
