Beware the spams
There are a huge number of words to call homosexuals in all the languages. The neutral ones are...
French : homosexuel, gay
Spanish : homosexual

I think for most European languages the answer will be a slight variant of "homo-sexual", as it's somewhat of a scientific term.
Es den dotil.

I only wanted to note that gay is usually used for men in english (versus homosexual ) but you sometime see "gay women" in american english. When we use gay in french it only means "gay men" and we say "lesbienne" for a woman. The slang word in french for "lesbienne" is "gouine" but it's very depreciative.
slang words to speak about homosexual are usually depreciative like
finocchio in italian which means fennel
ou "pédé" in french ("pédéraste")

I think I've heard "gay" to qualify a woman in French. "Elle est gay" At least I could very well say it. (but I might be wrong...)
And, in French again, don't we use more and more "homo" ? It sounds less scientific and more detached than the full word.

I think you're right: I could also say "elle est gay" ! and when we say "homo" we use a little informal word which doesn't seen scientific nor depreciative!
