phrase in english

good evening to everybody!

It's ages since I sent my last mail. Hope you're all doing fine!!!

I need a little help! I'm coming to grips with an English text that I must translete and I have only two days at my disposal.
anyway, the complicated phrase that I need to understand is the following:


Verify working of the lantern and of any other nav (nay?) aid devices.

I can't make out the term nav or nay. In the text, it is printed as it were "nav".
Help, please!!!

Is it just that one word that is causing a problem ?

I reckon that it stands for navigation.

This shorthand has become widely used since "sat nav " (shorthand for satellite navigation) devices, like Tom Tom, have become popular.
