help in mathematics translation

Can someone help me with a translation : someone asked me what "to be paired with" means in French and I have no answer for that. This is an expression used in mathematics. The whole sentence was : "the odd numbers between -5 and 4 inclusve are paired with the even numbers between -5 and 4 inclusive.
N is the sum of the products of the pais...."
