English to French expressions

Post by Amanda »

Hello everybody,

I was hoping someone might be able to help me out with translating some of these English phrases to French. It would be greatly appreciated!

He ran upstairs
He cycled back home
Our difficulties have been talked out.
He rowed across the lake
He walked over to the window
He was talked out of it.
Don’t let the milk boil over.
He was rushed to the hospital
He crept back up to his room.
Did he come for the letter?

Thanks very much in advance! :)

4 Il a traversé le lac à la rame

5 Il s' est approché de la fenêtre

6 Ne laisse pas déborder le lait

7 Il a été transporté d' urgence à l' hôpital

8 Il est remonté dans sa chambre à pas de loup OR sans un bruit

9 I'm not quite sure of the meaning of this sentence

Did he come for the letter?

Est-il venu chercher la lettre?
Est-il venu chercher sa lettre?
Il venu chercher sa/la lettre?

He was talked out of doing it.

On la dissuadé de le faire.
On l'a convaincu/persuadé de ne pas le faire.

Or simply

He was talked out of it. On l'a dissuadé.

Nobody wrote: He was talked out of it. On l'a dissuadé.
Or you could also say: "On l'en a dissuadé"
