Help with the word "LIFT"

I would be very grateful if anyone could help me with the translation of a single world into spanish. It is the word "LIFT" in the phrase below. It makes no sense translating it as "elevator". In any case, could you tell me if the phrase makes sense in english and search for a synonime for this word?

Perhaps "copia" or "imitación".

No, it does in fact mean "elevator" in this context. The phrase is saying that this type of fast techno music, which was originally a subversive phenomenon, became so popular that it was played as background music in elevators, advertisments, etc.
