Difference between two words (synonyms?)

Post by Marite »

Hi, I've recently found out this site and, even if I don't know how exactly it works, I would like to make a question: Can anyone explain to me what's the difference between "perverseness" and "perversity"? I've found in some dictionaries that they're synonyms, but it seems to me that "perversity" is much more used than "perverseness". Is that right? Is "perverseness" a dated word? Sorry if it's not the place to put my question, but I would very much appreciate if someone can answer me. By the way, my native and everyday language is Spanish.

For the meaning "The quality or state of being perverse", the words are synonyms. I think pervesity is more used - in any case, it's the word I would use (although I would understand the other one).

Anthos, thanks a lot! I asked this question because I used the less frequent word (perverseness) in a message I sent to several people and when I discovered that other people used "perversity" I was afraid that the word I used was wrong or dated. Now I feel more relieved.
Thanks again for your help.
