I don't really understand

Post by j u d i t h »

this forum.... :(

What is it for? I understand that there are free translators available on this site, so this forum can't really be a place to ask translation-questions, right?

Wouldn't it be fun to "talk" about languages here? It's quite silent here on this board  - are there any regular users around? I just found this site yesterday and I love the idea of it.

I'm a little bit clumsy with technical things, so I'm still trying to find out how everything works here - haven't even found out how to change the language to Spanish or German... Doesn't it work or am I just being even clumsier than usual?

Well, I'd like to know who you guys are and what you like about languages! But I'll start with introducing myself of course!

My name is Judith, I'm German and I have always loved languages. I've never actually studied languages - it's more like a hobby for me. My favourite languages are the Scandinavian ones but I'm interested in any other language as well.

Okay, I'll wait and see if there's anybody out there :)

Happy Easter everybody!

This forum is an additional tool, you can contact a translator via Freelang's website or you can choose to ask your question here. This is also a place to talk about languages, of course. There are a few regs here, you should hear from them soon. By the way I'm Beaumont, webmaster of Freelang. :jap:

sure it would, but just some people forget to reply (read ignore) to some message...therefore, i think, it is silent here....however, i`d love to have some relevant discussions here.

i also take great interest in languages and i`ve been studying some of them for some time and, actually, still do... :)
I also like Scand. languages...but at this point of my life i dont have the possibility of studying them (it would just make TOOOO many at a time :D ) nevertheless, i`m planning to study norwegian in the near future :) we`ll see how it goes.

Hi! Happy Easter too. The place looks silent, I agree with you but nonetheless, it is very useful and helpful for those who are having difficulty in certain languages or may have some questions regarding some topics even translation of languages. I am sort of new here but I have gained a certain liking to this forum since I can contribute something to other people´s queries. I am Joseph, a professional translator and interpreter from English, Spanish and Catalan into Tagalog (my native language - I am from Manila, Philippines but now reside in Barcelona, Spain).

I have received 5 questions relating to translation in this site, too. And it's so good a feeling to help other people cope with their problems. So if you really want some fun just try to search for topics you want or you can post your own (as you already did) and see how many people react. :ape:

Hope to hear from you and see you here a lot, too. And WELCOME! :hello:

Hi Demona,

thanks for your welcome!

So it's not as silent here as I thought in the beginning, that's great!

What languages are you studying (or have been studying?)? And, concerning Scandinavian languages, why do you want to pick Norwegian? - Just curious... ;)

Hi Joseph!

Thanks for your answer!

Yes, I really like the idea of helping each other with translation problems, I contacted one of the volunteers yesterday because of a problem (a Faroese song text I've got difficulties with ;)) and I'm really looking forward to receiving an answer - it would be nice to know what I'm singing all the time :D .

I registred as a volunteer yesterday as well, but haven't received a confirmation, yet. Well, it's Easter Holidays of course, so I have to wait a couple of days I think.

It's good to see that it's not as silent here as I thought in the beginning. Thanks for your welcome, Joseph!

Wow, Estonian!! Isn't that quite close to Finnish? Complicated grammar I suppose! :D
What is your native tongue then?

Heisann??? Is that Estonian? It sounds almost like hejsan which is Swedish!

Russian! I learned that at school for 7 years - unfortunately I've forgotten very much because I didn't use it after that :( Maybe I should attend a refresher course sooner or later! It's such a beautiful language! :)

See you!
