Here is the pope (ici vit le pape) --> Latin

Post by SuperCed »

I am searching for a translation of a little sentence to Latin.

"Here the pope is living" it's better if it's something like "Here is living the pope...".

Je cherche une traduction vers le latin de la petite phrase suivante :
"Ici vit le pape".

Thanks, merci

Hic vivit Papa

(y compris dans le sens "d'habiter", même si "hic manet Papa" serait plus idiomatique)
La plupart des occasions des troubles du monde sont grammairiennes (Montaigne, II.12)

Just one observation : in classical Latin, "Papa" is used for every bishop, not only the Roman one. So if you want to be more precise, using a sentence which could have been written between the years 0 and 1000, you should indicate something like :
"Hic vivit pontifex maximus".

But in "modern Latin" ;) , used by the churchmen nowadays, Sisyphe's suggestion is definitely perfect.
