The history of Reflexion begins from year 1995, when two young guitar players decided to team up and form a kick-ass rock'n'roll band. Accompanied by a drummer, they started to rehearse fiercely. At first their material consisted of covers, namely songs by Metallica, Megadeth and AC/DC. After a few months of practicing the guys realized that in order to succeed they should get a singer to the band. That's when Juha Kylmänen joined the band and after a while the former drummer was replaced by Raymond Pohjola. The band, then called Enchanted, started to concentrate on own material and after feeling confident enough about their songs the band did their debut gig at a "School's out" festival in Oulu.
A few gigs came and went and in the summer of 1997 it was time to record the first demo. The four-song cassette, 'Blackness and moonlight', got a good response and sold pretty well. After a year of gigs and song writing the band hit the studio again. New demo was recorded and it got the attention of a couple of record companies. After negotiating for a long time the band decided to wait for a better deal and kept on doing gigs in Finland.
In 1999 band participated in a Finnish rock talent competition and made it all the way to the final. The competition was held by the national MTV3 TV-station and show was broadcasted partly. During the year 2000, the name Reflexion was chosen for the band. Just months later, Reflexion's music was used in a snowboarding movie called Extreme Radical which was also broadcasted nationwide. Pretty soon a Finnish TV-program called Hotsport also wanted a Reflexion song for their weekly show.
In 2001 'For my pain...' now a rather well known gothic metal band, asked Kylmänen to join the project. The line-up consists big names from the Finnish metal scene like Tuomas Holopainen (Nightwish), Lauri Tuohimaa (Charon) and Altti Veteläinen (Eternal Tears of Sorrow). On same time Reflexion keyboardist Antti Pikkarainen backed up Sentenced on the road throughout their 'Cold White Light' European tour.
In 2003 Reflexion recorded 'Journey to tragedy'-EP and signed a co-operation deal with Scandinavian A1 Music Ltd. Soon after that music video from 'Crashing Down' was shot. In 2004 the band toured in Finland with Charon and a new three-song demo called 'Smashed to pieces' was recorded. Later on keyboardist Antti Pikkarainen and bassist Petteri Lehtola decided to quit and concentrate on their other bands. Mikko Uusimaa took Lehtola`s place as bassist and Marco Sneck from Poisonblack was asked to play keyboards as a session musician.

• L’histoire de Reflexion commence en 1995, alors que deux jeunes guitaristes décident de s’associer dans le but de fonder une bande de rock’n’roll époustouflante. Suivis par un batteur, ils s’acharnent à répéter. Au début leur répertoire n'est consitué que de reprises, à savoir de Metallica, Megadeth et AC/DC. Après quelques mois de travail, les trois se rendent compte que pour avoir du succès il leur faut engager un chanteur. C’est à ce moment que Juha Kylmänen rejoint le groupe et que peu après le batteur est remplacé par Raymond Pohjola. La bande, qui alors s’appelait Enchanted, commence alors à travailler à ses propres morceaux. Lorsque finalement le groupe se sent assez sûr de ses chansons, il débute sur scène au festival School’s out de Oulu.
  Après quelques concerts donnés de temps en temps vient le moment d’enregistrer la première démo, dans l’été 1997. La cassette « Blackness and moonlight », contenant 4 morceaux, rencontre les faveurs du public et se vend plutôt bien. Après un an passé sur scène et à écrire des chansons la bande frappe encore une fois à la porte du studio. L’enregistrement d’une nouvelle démo suscite l’intérêt de quelques maisons de disques. Après de longues négociations le groupe préfère attendre de meilleures occasions et continue à tourner en Finlande.
  En 1999 la bande participe à un concours finnois pour les talents du rock et parvient à arriver en finale. Le concours est organisé par une chaîne nationale, MTV3, et l’évènement est partiellement diffusé. Au cours de l’année 2000 le groupe se choisit un nouveau nom : Reflexion. Quelques mois après la musique de Reflexion est utilisée dans la réalisation d’un film sur le snowboard, « Extreme radical », qui est diffusé dans le pays entier. Il ne faut pas longtemps pour qu’une émission finnoise, « Hotbot », demande aussi à utiliser une chanson de Reflexion pour ses rendez-vous hebdomadaires.
  En 2001 For my pain…, actuellement un groupe goth assez connu, demande à Kylmämen de faire partie du projet, qui réunit de gros noms de la scène metal finnoise, comme Tuomas Holopainen (Nightwish), Lauri Tuohimaa (Charon) et Altti Veteläinen (Eternal Tears of Sorrow). En même temps Antti Pikkarainen (claviers) côtoie Sentenced lors de leur tour européen « Cold white light ».
  En 2003 Reflexion enregistre l’album « Journey to tragedy » et signe une collaboration avec Scandinavian A1 Music Ltd. Peu de temps après on lancera ce fameux clip tiré de « Crashing down ». En 2004 le groupe se produit en Finlande avec Charon et enregistre une nouvelle démo : « Smashed to pieces ». Plus tard Antti Pikkarainen et le bassiste Petteri Lehtola décident d’abandonner le groupe et de se concentrer sur leurs autres bandes. Mikko Uusimaa a remplacé Lehtola à la basse et Marco Sneck, de Poisonblack, a intégré le groupe en tant que musicien d’appoint aux claviers.
