I was wondering if there were any Hebrew experts around who could translate "Sin no more" (as in the command, like John 8:11, "Go forth and sin no more") into Hebrew or ancient Hebrew? It'd make a simple Australian very happy
in Hebrew a verb has singular and plural forms, as well as male and female forms. the verbal form "sin" of the phrase you want to be translated is future (used with imperative sense). we are going to show you all the forms (singular, plural; male, female). note that the one used in John 8:11 is singular female. here it is:
אל תחטא עוד (al techeta 'od)
sin no more - when addressing to one male
אל תחטאי עוד (al techte'i 'od)
sin no more - when addressing to one female (the one used in John 8:11)
אל תחטאו עוד (al techte'u 'od)
sin no more - when addressing to several males
אל תחטאנה עוד (al techt'na 'od)
sin no more - when addressing to several females
