Intertitles: a lot of work!

Post by Antolin »

Hello everybody. I didn’t know this site. It’s great. It still exist people doing things for nothing, incredible! :-o
I’ll try to be short. I’m adding intertitles/subtitles to a movie I uploaded to Google Video, but I don’t know so much people around the world as is needed. The original English text has around 1650 characters, and it is at this link: antolintinez dot googlepages dot com slash thekidintertitles
At my homepage antolintinez dot googlepages dot com there is a link to The Kid project page, which has some comments and the recognition to the people involved on it. At its bottom there is a list of GV available languages. The movie is at this link: video dot google dot com slash videoplay?docid=-7825676509326646750).

Subtitles ready: English (original), Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian.
In course: Hindi, Croatian (perhaps Serbo-croatian and Serbian too), Macedonian, German, Dutch. I suppose they will finish it.
Translations I have made using Google online translator: Arabic, Chinese simplified, Chinese traditional, Korean, Japanese, Russian (all beta).
Translations I have made using other online translators: Galician, Basque, Catalan, Bulgarian, Czech, Esperanto, Finnish, Hungarian, Icelandic, Latin, Norwegian, Polish, Romanian, Slovak, Turkish, Welsh (But I think I will have troubles with some of them, because are really strange to me. Take in account that I got 60% in the Quiz posted by Beaumont!).

Needed (not all, but the most spoken):
Abkhazian Afar Afrikaans Albanian Amharic Armenian Assamese Aymara Azerbaijani Bashkir Bengali Bhutani Bihari Bislama Breton Burmese Byelorussian Cambodian Corsican Danish Estonian Faeroese Fiji Frisian Gaelic Georgian Greek Greenlandic Guarani Gujarati Hausa Hebrew Indonesian Interlingua Interlingue Inupiak Irish Javanese Kannada Kashmiri Kazakh Kinyarwanda Kirghiz Kirundi Kurdish Laothian Latvian Lingala Lithuanian Malagasy Malay Malayalam Maltese Maori Marathi Moldavian Mongolian Nauru Nepali Occitan Oriya Oromo Pashto Persian Polish Punjabi Quechua Rhaeto-Romance Samoan Sangro Sanskrit Serbian? Serbo-Croatian? Sesotho Setswana Shona Sindhi Singhalese Siswati Slovenian Somali Sudanese Swahili Swedish Tapalog Tajik Tamil Tatar Telugu Thai Tibetan Tigrinya Tonga Tsonga Turkmen Twi Ukrainian Urdu Uzbek Vietnamese Volapuk Wolof Xhosa Yiddish Yoruba

I’ll try to finish the project. It would be nice to cover some -or most- of those languages. It is not an urgent work, of course. It is a very important movie, and also there are involved other things regarding this project, as test CC of Google Video (they should pay for that! :( ), to show how web2.0 works, to originate links to the ordinary people websites, to push the people to do things like this, to give the opportunity to poor kids around the world to watch a famous movie in their languages (if they access internet, of course). I think Chaplin would like it. :D

:-? Questions: How much help do you think I could get here? What about to check the subtitles I already translated (later, in days or weeks) directly in the movie? What about the rest of the languages?

Any comment will be welcome. Any help will be appreciated publically as I’m already doing it. I would prefer people with names and websites to refer in order to show that a team of humans did it, and to do a homogeneous job.
My best regards to all of you.
