I need to know how to say this word: anselig

it means substantial or impressive in Norwegian.

an-se-lig is more like "an-sea-ly" almost the same stress on the parts, but perhaps a bit more on the middle one.
Not easy to do if it is not heard :-)
Do you know the Norwegian spoken sound?

you are right, this is hard to say, i have been to Norway and heard the spoken sound. But it has been years.

Makes me wish I had a Norwegian friend in Texas where I live. I am thinking I want to name my newborn horse this, I like the meaning. but I dont want to look dumb by not knowing how to pronounce it!!!

My translation of anselig is more like "considerable, sizeable", but your words are ok translations too, considerable is the closest in meaning I think.
literally it means "something you take notice of".
Is it it filly or a colt?
In the translation service it might be possible for me to send you a sound file attached, where I say the word in Norwegian, if it a deeply fwlt wish on your part. I worked in Norway for a while some years ago.

My little dictionary says it means considerable, substantial, or impressive. But I like something you take notice of too!!!!!

She is a filly, I tried to post a link to photos of her but it says I'm not allowed!

I would LOVE a sound bite!!!! How can we do that?

I think if you send me a request for a translation, that it will be possible for me to attach a sound file to my reply, but it might take me a couple of days, because I am travelling at the moment, and have not brought a microphone for my laptop along.
