My name is Mike Schneider and I'm currently serving as the organizer/ curator for the mass-collaborative art project, Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated. Basically, within this project artists from all over the world (well about 40 or so countries) have selected scenes from the 1968 cult classic and are recreating them through their art (whatever style, media and process that may be.) These works are collected, organized and curated directly on top of the original film to make an entire video track showcasing their varied artistic responses. Because the original film has been around so long.. subtitle tracks for nearly every language are available freely making showing the work internationally fairly simple... the issues arises however in translating the website and the explanation of the project that will be found on it into as many languages as possible so people understand what they are looking at.
The entire project itself is non-commercial (creative commons with artists retaining rights over their respective works), non-profit rearing and will be available free online and at cost on DVD. A number of our artists have volunteered to translate the site and information. So far, English + French are complete/ formated and proofed. German, Portuguese, and Romanian are in progress. A number of the other artists have also volunteered to translate the site into their native tongues but are currently preoccupied with creating artwork for the project itself. Since we are doing this as the film is in post-production ( before final print ) , all of the full website translators will also be receiving film credits for their assistance.
All of the text from the website (which is scheduled to go live in 2 weeks in the languages available by that point) has been copied into a single word document ( http://www.notldr.com/translate_me.doc ) though at about 800 words, that is more then would be apt to ask for through this forum. [That said, any volunteers are welcomed and as I said properly accredited within the film's credits.]
Instead, I ask for help in translating the following message into as many languages as possible:
Having the languages on the menu and temporary pages featuring that message will only help to increase the possibility that the website will eventually be available in that language and in turn the project would become accessible by larger audience. We are sorry. The website is not currently available in [language name]. If you are fluent in both [language name] and English and wish to help translate the site into [language name] then please email us at translate@notldr.com .
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your time and consideration.
