I'd like to know what "tax number" or "tax payer's account number" is in Italian.

do you speak about the value added tax identification number of someone who works "for himself" in Italy? it is the "numero di partita IVA"
there's also for anyone (worker or non worker) a number that you use to pay tax but also to be recognize it is the "codice fiscale"
