Say "Go Away" In Every Language

Post by ziapory »

Hello, everyone. I have a little problem. On my bedroom door there was a sign that said "How to say 'Go Away' in 50 Languages." It was used jokingly as an insult to friends when they come to my door. However, recently, it must have fallen off or something because it was thrown out. Now, I cannot find it and I want to make a new one. Unfortunately, I only know two languages fluently: English and Latin. That leaves 48 languages left, so... I come to you for help: How would you say "go away" in every language that you know of? Any help would be greatly appreciated! When it comes to languages that have both a Romanized alphabet and its own alphabet, both would be appreciated, but if that is not possible, a Romanized version would suffice.

Also, I noticed that most of the forum is in French, so I hope I am doing this correctly. ;)

[P.S. If you help me, I'd be more than happy to help anyone who needs help with Latin or English. :)]

Thank you! I feel like such a beginner. ;)

I don't understand a word French, though, so that thread is a bit confusing to me.

After looking at that thread, Oliver, I find it very hard to understand, as French is alien to me. :(

So, if anyone knows how to say "go away" in various languages, can you tell me with English comments, or translate what what said in that thread? Thank you. :)

In French, it can also be "va-t-en" or "allez-vous en" (less colloquial)

Not bad, it's just that "du-te!" means simply "go!".
For "go away!", I think I'd rather use "Pleacă!" (not very impolite); "Dispari!" (quite impolite); "Cară-te!" (most impolite). I guess the next stage towards impoliteness would be the use of swearwords (you know, that sort of four-letter F-words). I think that the most appropriate translation for "Cară-te!" would already be something like "Beat it!".

Hi

In Finnish : 'Mene pois' or less polite 'häivy'
In Estonian : 'Mine ära' or less polite 'kao ära'
In Swedish : 'Gå bort' or less polit 'försvinn'

hope this helps to keep some people from Northern Europe away :-)

In Tamil :

Go away = Pô போ

with irritation : Pô Dâ ( m) போடா Pô Dî (f) போடீ

you can even add Tchi ச்சீ
Tchi Pô Dâ ou Tchi Pô Dî

( tchi means nothing by itself; and Dâ et Dî are noticed for familiarity, not necessarily in pejorative way )
