Hi there!
Did you ever say something very stupid in a foreign language?
Did you ever get something totally wrong?
Tell me about it - I want to read some funny stories!

Misunderstandings

In French we use to say "tchin tchin" when we clink glasses (to celebrate something). That's what I said once at Christmas, to some friends including a japanese girl and her boyfriend who spoke japanese...First they didn't clink glass with me then they looked at each other incredulously and finally they told me "tchin" meant penis in japanese.

"Al principio era el Verbo..."
how not to introduce someone
in french i once said, while introducing two English female friends, 'j'introduis mes copines...'
this is akin to 'i penetrate ....' , hence the smiles/laughter and my embarassment
i should have said, 'je vous présente ... "
