tahahn ropeeya mai lum.
i have no idea what it means so if it is offensive language, i apologize in advance for posting it. someone sent this message to a friend of mine. he became very upset but would not tell me the meaning of it or what language it was. i think it is urdu or at least i know it is an asian, possibly indo-pak dialect.

Hello there,

It could be Thai actually, but I can't figure out the second word, as Thai uses its own alphabet and there is no official transcription. Do you have any more information about the context?

"Thahan" means "soldier", "mai lum" means "don't/doesn't forget".

I'm not sure about "ropeeya", I guess "ro" is "wait", but I don't know if "pee ya" refers to a grandmother (mother of father), or the ghost (spirit) of a grandmother. It depends on the tone and the way you spell the words. "Pee" and "ya" can also have other meanings, but I guess none of them would make sense here.

So it could be something like "the soldier waits for the spirit of his grandmother and doesn't forget", or "I, the soldier, am waiting for the ghost of my grandmother, don't forget".

Just my 2 cents OK? I'm still a beginner in Thai and I'm not used to read transcriptions.
