Hum... I think more of a character for a story, or comics or something of that kind... I tried "lapin gris" + grisou on Google and it seems to be related to an existing story-character... I posted that question as I do not speak French, so I wanted to get a bettter picture of this mysterious (to me) animal. My grandparents raised rabbits when I was little (my personal favourite was a grey one), so I kinda see the rabbit and the hare as quite distinct animals...
