English -> Latin motto for a grave stone

Post by paulyoulten »

Salvete mundi,

An old family friend died a few months ago and requested that the words "Only a whisper away" be inscribed on her memorial (which is to be in the shape of an ironing board - as she worked for many years as an domestic help).

The church where she is buried is quite old fashioned and doesn't like the slightly "naff" or "schmaltzy" motto that she requested.

The compromise is to write it in Latin.

So my request is for someone to translate: "Only a whisper away" into latin.

gratias ago.

Since nobody else came up with something, the best I could so is:

Modo susurrus elapsit

Sorry, a more Latin-like form would be:

Modo elapsit susurrus
