these words - what do they mean? I am not sure where the start is.

"Let them know that you are the real God, and that the one, whom you sent, is Jesus Christ. That is the eternal life".
Or
"let them ackowledge you as the real God, etc."

Should it be "That is eternal life" rather than "That is the eternal life"?

Well : I should confess ( 
so to say...) that my english is quite deficient (I am 
), so that I do not feel wholly the difference between the both 
...... However, there is no article in latin, nor definite (the) neither undefinite (a) ones. Therefore I think "That is eternal life" is correct too.
Haec = that (concorded as feminin, with "vita", by anticipation)
est = is
vita = life
aeterna = eternal.
