The premier saves Zeffirelli from eviction
The majestic villa on Antique Appia Street where the film-director lived was for sale: Premier Berlusconi bought it
Roma- Franco Zeffirelli was doubtless when on October 27th to the journalist asking him a comment about the tele-report of the day the European Constitution was signed, and of which he was the director, he answered: “Well, Berlusconi is the landlord, whereas Romani Prodi appears to be Europe’s guest”. It was certainly the most appropriate definition, because Silvio Berlusconi is his own landlord, even though the news has never been divulged and wasn’t of course common knowledge, till the 7th of Juve 2001, a few days before Berlusconi was named Premier for the second time. Zeffirelli, in the world Gian Franco Corsi, since many years lives in a villa on the Antique Appian Street that has been rented to him. The villa is situated in a large villa district realised at the beginning of the thirties by the Papa family, to which stylist Valentino’s house belongs as well.
In the district live many other celebrities of the Italian show business. There lives the well-known film-producer Aldo Raparelli, the owner of Cineteam. There is Anna Bettozzi, former estate adviser, now working as a rock singer and better known as Ann Bettz.
In the main district there is the No Limit International, Franco Nero’s film production company. Francesco Papa, member of the above-mentioned family, is also one of the minor shareholders of this company. Papa says he feels linked by profound friendship and esteem with the film-director that his family hosts since more than thirty years. They would have continued to host him, if an incredible thing didn’t happen. The estates, including Zeffirelli’s Villa, were mortgaged. The Papa family yielded before the impossibility to meet the bank’s requests. At that point, the film director would have been in the danger of quitting the house, if, of course, his close friend, Berlusconi, didn’t come to his aid. Berlusconi bought the house and it was a real bargain. On June the 7th 2001the Idra company, Berlusconi’s estate strongbox which holds Villa Certosa, the properties of Arcore and Macherio, controlled through Dolcedrago Holding, has bought for 1 billion and 400 million euros, two contiguous villas, one of them hosting Zeffirelli. Maintenance works were immediately started that lasted until last year. According to the Idra budget have boosted up to 590 000 Euro the house’s value.
Berlusconi’s intervention will permit to Forza Italia’s former senator to continue to live in the villa during his life, without depriving himself of an important propriety. We’re talking about the spectacular villa that rises on a marvellous rock, straight down to Positano river, where Berlusconi is often a guest. He would have bought that villa too, if his security advisers didn’t warn him not to.

Strongbox-in Italian it is cassaforte (a box where money and other precious objects are kept). I found the term in the dictionary.

it doesn't seem to me that I translate texts word by word. It was an exercise. That's why I asked native speakers' suggestions and corrections..... 99% of the text I sent was comprehensible and clear enough even though translated by an Albanian girl (as I am). I translate into albanian and Italian (and sometimes into English as well= since many years. Of course, translation is also a creation, not just the mechanical rendering of a foreign text in another language.
Anyway, thanks for the advice!
