A Prety simple(hopefully) English to Latin

Post by Arvainis »

Trying to come up with a guild name and looking at trying to use Shield of the Republic. I have no idea what I'm doing with it but I have found Aegis Res Publica but I'm not sure if that's even close to the right translation. Any help is appreciated :)

you have many possibilities to translate "shield". Aegis is possible (but quite rare), an other form is "scutum". But one point is sure : in order to translate the "of the republic", the second part of your expression must look like this, : rei publicae. You must also know that "res publicae" means much more, in latin, than only "republic" (also the State, and so on ; but it also means republic).

So I suggest :

scutum rei publicae
