Post by fatbob »

My wife's Sunday school lesson for next week is on the Tower of Babel and she would like as many translations of "welcome to my home" as possible.
She would like any language ,but needs the English phonetics so her children can pronounce them. Thank you ahead of time for any help I recieve.

French:
Bienvenue chez moi
(sorry, I can't think out how to explain this pronounciation in English  , maybe someone else will do it better than me)

German:
Willkommen bei mir
(vilkomen by mir)

Russian:
Добро пожаловать ко мне
(dobra pazhalavat ka mnye)
Sonka - Сонька
It's crazy how the time just seems to fly
But for a moment you and I, we caught it

byeng va new shaymwah
in Hungarian: Üdvözöllek nálam! (yewdva za llec naah lom  )
(seriously: what I wrote (y)ew is French u and German ü that is ee with rounded lips like for oo, eng is really a vowel with the nasal sound given by ng but without the ng sound itself, final a is not ah but the unstressed sound in "above"...)

Polish: Witaj w moim domu (veetie v moeem domoo)

Spanish: Bienvenido a mi casa (byenveneedau ah mee cassah)

it's bienvenido if you talk to a man. In different cases you should use:
- bienvenida, if you talk to a woman,
- bienvenidas, - to two or more women
- bienvenidos - to two or more men or a mixed group

czech & slovak = vitejte doma [veetaytae dauma]
You may feel alone when you’re falling asleep
And every time tears roll down your cheeks
But I know your heart belongs to someone you’ve yet to meet
Someday you will be loved

En serbe, ça doit être un truc du genre :
Dobrodošli kod moja kuca

Je sais pas mettre l'accent sur le "c".

A corriger s'il y a une faute...
