thing in as many languages as possible
Hello people,
I would be very grateful if you could tell me how to say "thing" in as many languages as possible. For example: "the thing is..." when you're talking about something in general.
Thanks again

Code: Select all
The thing is... : La chose est...
Quand on veut se justifier pour quelque chose, on dirait plutôt : "le truc, c'est que... etc... et donc je ne pourrai pas venir à la soirée..."
À moins que je sois complètement à côté de la plaque

czech = věc [vee-ets]
slovak = vec [vets]
romanian = chestie [kaysteeyay]
that's literaly "thing"...then, the phrase "the thing is, that..." will be translated differently in each languauge, in each language depending on the context, with other words than the ones given above

You may feel alone when you’re falling asleep
And every time tears roll down your cheeks
But I know your heart belongs to someone you’ve yet to meet
Someday you will be loved

Non, t'as raison, Pixel. Neph le dit aussi plus bas : c'est pas parce qu'en anglais y'a thing dans cette expression que c'est forcément à traduire littéralement (d'ailleurs j'ai pas traduit littéralement non plus en russe). Truc, c'est bien mais c'est familier. On pourrait dire aussi "le problème, c'est que..."Pixel wrote:Moi je dirais "truc" (si j'ai bien saisi l'idée de la phrase...).Code: Select all
